I’d like to talk about a special cake that I received from my best friend, Lisa. It happened last year during my birthday party at her house. Lisa knew how much I love desserts, so she surprised me with a homemade cake that she made herself. When she brought it out, I was so surprised and touched because it was exactly what I would have wanted.

The cake was a chocolate one with a unique design. It had my favorite colors and even a little message written on top. Lisa said she spent hours baking and decorating it, and that made me feel really special because it showed how much effort she put into making my day memorable. The cake was not only beautiful but also delicious, and everyone at the party loved it.

Receiving this cake wasn’t just about enjoying a sweet treat, and it was about the thought and care behind it. It made me realize how lucky I am to have such a thoughtful friend. Even though it’s just a cake, it holds a lot of meaning for me. It’s not just a dessert but a symbol of our bond and the memories we’ve shared.

Speaking of a special cake that I received, it would go back to, I think it was three or four years ago, it was on my birthday, and I received numerous gifts from my friends so I expressed my thanks to my friends online.

As I was texting them, I suddenly got a phone call from the delivery service saying that there was a cake for me. I thought it was ordered by my friends or family so as I received the cake I was so surprised because that cake was actually made from berries, like strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries, all the berry fruits.

I thought, yeah, it’s going to be my parents who sent that gift to me because they knew that I’m a big fan of berry fruits since a child. As I expressed my thankfulness to them, saying that the little birthday card really got some touching words and I was deeply moved by that card because it is said on the card that they would be there for me no matter what decision I make in my life and they would always take my side, be there for me and encourage me no matter what kind of person I grow into.

So I was so moved, I tell you the truth, I nearly burst into tears. So as I expressed my thankfulness to them, they told me that that cake wasn’t from them. I was so embarrassed and then I thought, okay, so this is maybe a surprise cake from my best friend because she didn’t call me that day. So I thought it was like a surprise from her so I called her and told her that, hey, I got your cake and I’m so glad that you remember my birthday and you still remember that I love berry fruits and she was so awkward and she told me it wasn’t from her either.

I got a little bit embarrassed and I said goodbye to her and then I posted on social media asking like who sent this cake to me? I mean, thank you, but you know, tell me who are you? I think it was just five minutes after I post that, I got a phone call from a delivery man. He told me that there was a mistake. This cake is supposed to belong to the girl who lives upstairs to my apartment.

I thought it scarcely can be a coincidence because how can it happen? Like the girl who lives upstairs to my apartment, like we were so close neighbors, we have the same birthday. That’s a  really rare occasion, isn’t it? So yeah, eventually we shared this cake and we celebrated our birthday together. Since then we’ve become close friends.

I realized that this birthday gift was actually from her boyfriend. So this was a very special cake that I got on my birthday, three, I think it was like three or four years ago, which impressed me a lot. Thanks to this birthday gift, I made a new friend. It feels like destiny. It can also be some small little accidents.

Being a big-time food fanatic, I love tasting mouth-watering delicacies. As far as desserts are concerned, I have a liking for cake. Although I have tasted cake numerous times, the one I had savored during my last birthday was special, and I enjoyed that the most.

During my last birthday, the world was going through the second wave of the Corona pandemic. Due to that, my city was in a state of lockdown. There is no denying this conviction that a birthday party is incomplete without cake. So on my birthday, my friends baked a cake for me at our home. As going out was not an option for us. So, my sister made the cake by using the ingredients available at home.

First, she baked the bread, and for that, she used whole wheat flour. For the icing on the cake, she made whipped cream from milk. And she further garnished the cake with Choco chips and fruits. I liked the cake because my friends baked it out of love and affection for me. Despite being newbies at cooking, they did tremendous hard work, and after watching umpteen videos on YouTube, they baked a mouth-watering cake for me.

As it was her first attempt, I was apprehensive regarding the taste of the cake. However, to my surprise, it was far beyond my expectation. And the smile my friends had on their faces after getting accolades from me would always remain etched in my memories. In totality, that is the best cake I have ever tasted in my life.

3. Why are some people willing to spend a lot of money on meals on special days?

I think it’s because a lot of family members and relatives are together during these days and having special meals makes such events more memorable. I think festivals, in general, make us happier and because of the good mood, we don’t mind spending a bit extra on the holidays.

3. Do you think it’s good to communicate when eating with your family?

I think it’s one of the best times to communicate with family members. First, when having food, we are in a better mood, so we are less likely to get into arguments. In addition, people are free during this time, so the communication can we without any distraction.
