IELTS Speaking Part 2 – Describe an Interesting Video – Sample answers and Band 7+ tips

Well, I want to talk about a video that recently showed up on my feed. It’s a cat owner telling its cat to use its paw to touch different items and then giving it a treat. That cat is way too smart. I was blown away. It’s definitely one of the most fascinating videos I’ve ever seen.

A few days back, I was just lounging around at home, scrolling through social media to kill time, and I came across this video. I feel like I watched it a million times. I couldn’t get enough of it. As for what I saw, a woman actually trained her cat. She had a number of items on the ground, and when she said the name of that item, the cat would use its little tiny paw to touch it. Then it would get a treat. The cat got it right literally 100% of the time. That’s the brightest cat I’ve ever seen.

Why did this video appeal to me so much? Well, firstly, I thought cats were untrainable. So the fact that this cat actually listened to its owner, actually understood what the owner was saying, dumbfounded me. So seeing such an intelligent cat that had actually been trained was mind-boggling.

The second reason I found it so interesting was I’m a cat person. I’m so into cats. So seeing this adorable little cat wearing a blue hat, trying to figure out how to get treats, was just so hilarious and cute. It was always something that was going to captivate me. What an awesome video. If I could watch any video on repeat for the rest of my life, I would definitely go with this one.

Speaking of this topic, I’d like to talk about an AI-generated short video that I watched a few months ago on Xiaohongshu. I remember I came across it while I was casually scrolling through some short videos.

What immediately caught my attention was how bizarre the story was. It was about a strawberry mom and a banana dad who somehow had an eggplant baby. The banana father became furious and suspected that the strawberry mom had betrayed him. Later, however, it turned out that both the mom and the baby were innocent, and the dad ended up regretting what he had done.

To be honest, I watched it purely out of curiosity. When I first saw it, I thought, what on earth is that? I just wanted to know how the story would develop. After watching it, I found it both ridiculous and hilarious. Family dramas like this are actually quite common, but seeing them acted out by fruits made the whole thing feel much funnier and more entertaining.

What impressed me even more was that the video was generated by AI. It made me realize how quickly AI technology is developing. In the past, creating something like this would probably have taken a lot of time and effort, but now it can be done much more easily. It left me wondering what other creative content AI might bring us in the future. So that’s an interesting video that I still remember quite clearly.
