IELTS Speaking Part 1 Topic Pets and Animals
Sample Answer 1
1. What’s your favourite animal? Why?
Answer 1: My favourite animal is the dog, without a doubt. They are not only cute and playful but also incredibly loyal to their owners. A dog can be a person’s best friend, always ready to listen to you and cheer you up when needed.
Answer 2: I think my favourite animal is the panda. They look so fluffy and adorable with their black and white fur, and they are unique to China, which makes them even more special. I’ ve always wanted to see a real panda in the zoo.
2. Where do you prefer to keep your pet, indoors or outdoors?
Answer 1: I definitely prefer to keep my pet indoors. If it’s a dog or a cat, staying inside can protect it from bad weather like heavy rain or extreme heat. Besides, it’s easier to bond with the pet when it lives in the same space as you.
Answer 2 : It depends on what kind of pet it is. If it’ s a rabbit or a chicken, I’d keep it outdoors in a spacious cage, because they need fresh air and enough room to move around. But if it’ s a hamster or a cat, indoors would be better.
3. Have you ever had a pet before?
Answer 1: Yes, I did. When I was a little kid, I begged my parents for a puppy almost every day. I even drew pictures of me playing with a dog and promised to take good care of it. Unfortunately, my parents thought we didn’ t have enough time to raise one back then.
Answer 2: Actually, no. I didn’ t want to keep a pet when I was young because I was afraid of taking on the responsibility. I thought feeding and cleaning up after a pet would be too much work for me, so I never asked my parents for one.
4. What is the most popular animal in China?
Answer 1: I think the most popular animal in China is the panda. It’ s China’ s national treasure, and it’ s loved by people of all ages. Moreover, pandas are also a symbol of friendship between China and other countries, so they are really well-known both at home and abroad.
Answer 2: In my opinion, dogs are the most popular animals in China. You can see many people walking their dogs in parks or on streets every day. Dogs are loyal and easy to raise, so they are the first choice for many families who want to keep a pet.
