(Update 2026) IELTS Speaking Part 1 Topic Going Out

Not at all. It’s not really in my habit. You see, convenience stores and snack shops are absolutely ubiquitous where I live, so if I get a bit peckish or thirsty, I can just pop into one and grab something. It’s incredibly handy, and it saves me the trouble of lugging things around.

Without a doubt. I can’t imagine stepping out without it; my phone is practically my lifeline.
It’s essential for everything, from navigating new places and handling payments to staying connected with friends. Frankly, I’d feel completely disoriented if I ever left home without it.

Rarely, to be honest. I’ve almost completely phased out using cash. Mobile payments are so seamless and efficient these days that I find carrying notes and coins a bit of a hassle. All my transactions are done digitally; it’s just more convenient.

Well, with the widespread adoption of digital payment, I hardly use cash at all. But strictly speaking, I’d say about once a year. That’s during the Chinese New Year when we give and receive red packets, which are always in cash. And usually, I end up spending that cash on treats and snacks anyway.

To be honest, I don’t usually make a habit of bringing food with me when I go out. But if I know beforehand that I might not have time to eat properly outside, I’ll pack some snacks or a simple meal, just to avoid getting hungry.

Absolutely. People always say the only two things you must bring when going out are yourself and your phone. It’s hard to imagine how to get by outside without one — we need it to contact people, make payments, check directions, and so much more. You could say it’s practically an extension of ourselves when we’re out and about.

Hardly ever, actually. With mobile payment being so common now — you can even pay with your palm or face in some places — there’s hardly any situation where I must use cash. I usually just bring my phone, and I often leave cash at home without even thinking about it.

Honestly, l use cash very rarely these days. Pretty much the only time I still use it regularly is during Chinese New Year, when we give red packets with cash inside to kids — it’s more traditional and festive that way, and it feels like part of the ritual.

Not really. Cash is like that old friend I rarely meet anymore – but we still keep the relationship polite. I carry just one bill, like a good-luck charm, in case the payment machine says “nope” and decides to embarrass me in public.

Hardly. I only use cash in “secret zones” where technology hasn’t fully arrived yet – like tiny breakfast stalls or old-style markets. But when I hand over cash, the owner always smiles like something magical just happened. So I guess I’m funding happiness.
